FLOURISH AGAIN
In life and in leadership to Jesus
Go Deeper with God
When your relationship with God is enmeshed with work, it’s easy to get caught up doing ministry for God rather than cultivating a deeper life with God.

Nourish Your Soul
Ministry is hard, stressful, and lonely. While pastors and ministry leaders are entrusted with the responsibility of pouring into others, there are few who readily pour into them.

Find Clarity Again
We are living in uncertain times where restlessness, anxiety, and confusion abound. As a result, leaders today are confronted with many deep questions and looking for greater clarity around their identity, purpose, & calling.
Lead Out of Renewal
In a weary and broken world, we need leaders that can lead out of the place of wholeness and renewal.

Journey of Wholeness
Journey of Wholeness (JOW) is a five-month, retreat-based cohort experience designed specifically for Asian American pastors and ministry leaders. It is offered by Barnabas & Co., a soul care ministry for Asian American faith leaders.
JOW provides a space and process where leaders can step away from their regular responsibilities and rhythms of life to "come away" with Jesus and receive His gracious offer of rest for their souls. It is our hope and aim that through this unique and transformative journey, participants will cultivate a deeper life with God and experience renewal in both their faith and calling.
JOW is offered to a small cohort of ministry leaders and space is limited. All retreats take place in-person in the Southern California area.
Our next cohort begins January 2027. To apply, click the "Submit Your Application" button or email us at info@barnabasandco.org to learn more.

Journey of Wholeness Facilitators

With over 25 years in church leadership, Sam has experienced much of the highs and lows that come with being in pastoral ministry. This is why Sam has a special heart for pastors who struggle with burn out, stress, and anxiety. He is also the author of the book Be Free.

Jeff is the founder and President of Barnabas & Co. - a soul-care ministry for Asian American faith leaders. He has served the local church for over 20 years and is currently pastoring a church in Orange County. He has a deep love for both congregations and their leaders.

A certified spiritual director, Rema walks alongside others on their journey with God. Having served in Asian immigrant churches, she deeply understands the unique challenges faced by Asian American faith leaders and creates safe spaces for authentic connection with God.
What makes us unique?
Asian American Focused
We specialize in providing this unique, retreat-based cohort experience specifically for Asian American pastors and ministry leaders because they tend to be underserved and under-resourced in the area of soul care.
Minimal Cost
to Participants
We're able to offer this retreat at minimal cost thanks to our generous donors who believe in investing in Asian American faith leaders and the transformative impact of this experience. Their support significantly subsidizes participant costs.
Praxis Oriented
Approach
We go beyond just teaching knowledge and truth to employing more of a praxis-style approach to learning. This is to help pastors and ministry leaders go from simply knowing the truth to having it become a lived-out reality in their life and ministry.
Holistic in Approach
We design our cohort experience to engage the whole person - body, mind, and spirit. We draw deeply from the world of spiritual formation and emotional/ spiritual health, while being Christocentric and Trinitarian in our approach.
FAQs
Asian Americans ministry leaders struggle with unique pain points and struggles in their respective cultural context of ministry. Our desire to come alongside such leaders grows out of our conviction that Asian American ministry leaders are underserved and under-resourced, especially in the area of soul care.
According to Barna, one of the leading reasons why pastors and ministers are considering dropping out of full-time ministry is due to the experience of isolation and loneliness. We believe that deep and lasting formation happens in the context of community and relationships. Our aim is to create safe, shared spaces for Asian American ministry leaders - for meaningful, life-giving connection with God and with others. To that end, we keep our cohort sizes intentionally small.
Thanks to our generous donors who cover the substantial majority of the cost, the participant fee for the entire cohort experience is $250, which can be paid in full or in five monthly payments of $50. This includes all meals, overnight lodging, and materials for the five retreats. This fee is non-refundable. Scholarships are available.
The other cost to participate is your time. The time commitment includes attending all five retreats, a one-hour Zoom call between the monthly retreats (four Zoom calls in total throughout the cohort), plus prayer & reflection exercises between retreats.
The cohort is made up of five monthly retreats, from January through May 2027.
Retreat 1 (overnight):
January 13-14, beginning at 9am on Wednesday and ending by 9pm on Thursday
Location: San Juan Capistrano, CA
Retreat 2: Monday, February 8 from 9am - 5pm
Location: Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
Retreat 3: Monday, March 8 from 9am - 9pm
Location: Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
Retreat 4: Monday, April 12 from 9am - 5pm
Location: Orange, CA
Retreat 5 (overnight):
May 12-13, beginning at 9am on Wednesday and ending at 5pm on Thursday
Location: Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
We ask participants to commit to all five retreats of the cohort, as these gatherings are at the heart of the Journey — where the cohort forms, deepens, and does its most meaningful work together. If you already know of a conflict with any of the retreat dates, please let us know in your application or consider applying for JOW at a later time.
This cohort experience is for Asian-American Christian leaders (both men and women) including pastors, ministry leaders, parachurch leaders, and missionaries. (This cohort is also open to those who do not identify as Asian-American, but work in an Asian ministry context.) Whether you serve full-time, part-time, or are currently in transition, if you are interested in taking part of this cohort experience, we encourage you to apply.
Click the "Submit Your Application" button and fill out our application form. One of our team members will reach out to you to schedule a 20-minute interview call to get to know you more and answer any questions you may have. Following the interview, we'll let you know whether you've been offered a spot in the cohort.
If you need help deciding whether this cohort is right for you, please email us at info@barnabasandco.org.
